Our Programs

PATHASALA
Pathasala began in September 2017 as a special project of the Nepalese Society of Tasmania. It is a Community Language School dedicated to teaching Nepali language and culture to children of Nepali and non-Nepali backgrounds, helping them stay connected to their roots in Nepal. We offer classes for two age groups: Junior (3-5 years) and Senior (6-10 years). What started modestly in an office room now takes place at Cosgrove High School in Glenorchy.

NEST Career Coaching
NEST Career Coaching was launched during the 2023/24 Executive Term to support career-minded individuals seeking employment in their chosen fields. This initiative is not a job placement service but provides guidance and tools to help participants find work. We identified challenges such as non-standard resumes, lack of mentors, limited professional networks, uncertainty about service providers, employer bias, and visa-related misunderstandings.

Sangeet Sambad
Sangeet-Sambaad was started by the Nepalese Society of Tasmania and broadcast Nepali news and community updates on Hobart FM until 2023. Due to changes requested by Hobart FM, the program was rebranded as Sangeet-Sambaad: Nepali Media of Tasmania in the 2023/24 term as a separate project. Although we no longer air on Hobart FM, this platform now covers news, events, and advocacy related to the Nepalese community in Tasmania and globally.

Chiya Guff Run Club
Chiya Guff Run Club is a community-focused initiative built around three simple joys: staying active, building friendships, and enjoying tea. We bring people from all walks of life together to celebrate the physical and mental health benefits of running. Join us every Sunday at 7 AM for a 5 KM run followed by tea and conversations. Each week, we choose a scenic location at your local park to keep things fresh and fun. Runners of all levels are welcome—no experience necessary!
