Our Programs
PATHASALA
Pathasala was established in September 2017 as a separate project of the Nepalese Society of Tasmania. Pathasala is a Community Language School which aims to teach Nepali language and culture to the kids from Nepali and non-Nepali origin, making them connected to the home and family back in Nepal. We run classes for two groups, Junior class (3-5 Years of Age) and Senior Class (6-10 Years of Age). Started from a humble beginning as classes were run in an office room but now it runs in Cosgrove high school in Glenorchy.
NEST Career Coaching
NEST Career Coaching was established during the Executive Term 2023/24. This project aims at supporting Career oriented individuals in gaining employment in their career of choice. This program is not an employment platform but aims at providing a pathway to gain the employment. We realised that some of the reasons are non-standard resume, cover letter, lack of mentors, lack of professional networking, unsure about service providers to use, employer biasness, lack of visa understanding for employers etc.
Sangeet Sambad
Sangeet-Sambaad was an initiation of Nepali Society of Tasmania and this program used to air Nepalese News and Happenings in Hobart FM until 2023. However, due to Hobart FM’s requirement, we had to change the name of airing Nepalese language Radio and hence, we established Sangeet-Sambaad:Nepali Media of Tasmania, as a separate project of Nepali Society of Tasmania in 2023/24 term. We do not air in Hobart FM anymore, however, via this project, we aim to cover all the news, events, advocacy etc in relation to Nepalese residing in Tasmania and all over the world.
Chiya Guff Run Club
Chiya Guff Run Club is a community-focused initiative built around three simple joys: staying active, building friendships, and enjoying tea. We bring people from all walks of life together to celebrate the physical and mental health benefits of running. Join us every Sunday at 7 AM for a 5 KM run followed by tea and conversations. Each week, we choose a scenic location at your local park to keep things fresh and fun. Runners of all levels are welcome—no experience necessary!
