Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhoodmaternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March or May.

In Nepal, Mother’s Day is celebrated as Matatirtha Aunsi, which is a day-long festival. This day is celebrated to Honor mothers and motherhood. On this day, people offer sweets, clothes, and other gift items to their mothers. According to Hindu tradition, the festival is celebrated on the new moon that falls in the month of Baisakh as per the lunar calendar.

This year we celebrated Mother’s Day at our Pathasala, where our Pathasala Students crafted cards for their mother and offered sweets and fruits. It was a very informative event where students gained knowledge about  Matatirtha Aunsi (Mother’s day in Nepal) and had fun creating arts for their mother.
