This year, we celebrated the most important Nepalese Event “Teej” in an authentic way to preserve our culture and religious traditions. Nepali Society of Tasmania collaborated with Hindu Society of Tasmania and organised communal Teej prayers and celebrations at Hindu Temple at Bridgewater and invited all Nepalese women around Hobart for Teej celebrations and Pooja. Priest offered a communal prayer ceremony to all women and offered blessings. The visiting grandmothers from Nepal have recited and sang the songs by playing our own Nepali musical instruments called madal. All women enjoyed and celebrated this festival by praying, singing, dancing and also enjoyed the Pooja friendly foods and drinks.
Through this celebration, we were aiming to pass our cultural celebration to the upcoming generation, and also preserve our own culture and traditions.
